There’s More Up Ahead

Yesterday brimmed with castle explorations, Vermont sight seeing, and gorgeous mountain views.

My best friend Traci moved to Vermont this weekend, so my other best friend Justin and I helped her move in. As we explored Bennington, Justin introduced us to this gorgeous old castle, which is now part of a college.

Giddy with the beauty of it all, I practically skipped across the cobblestones, snapping pictures left and right. I was particularly drawn to this gorgeous view of crooked stone benches and wrought iron encasing all the colors of autumn.

After a few minutes of photography, I noticed that Justin and Traci were standing off to the side, waiting for me.

Hidden in the corner stood a door, just waiting to release us into another world of vibrant colors, wide open spaces, mountains, and glory.

“Tiff, you haven’t seen anything yet,” Justin gave me a strange look. “You think the stone and iron bars are so cool, but wait til you see the front of the house!”

How many times has God said the same thing to me?

“You haven’t seen anything yet.”

I know God loves my childlike delight in every little piece of the adventure. I love the crooked benches, the iron bars, the snatches of horizon. But every so often, I miss the door set off to the side. I get stuck behind the stones instead of wandering into the view, instead of getting lost in “something more.”

But there’s still more up ahead.

We haven’t even seen the half of it yet.

This isn’t even a drop of water compared to the ocean that remains. The human language cannot begin to contain all the adventures our Father has in store to share with His sons and daughters.

As Job said long ago:

“Indeed these are the mere edges of His ways,
And how small a whisper we hear of Him!
But the thunder of His power who can understand?”
