Hey girls! I’m so glad you’ve dropped by! Feel free to curl up with a cup of coffee and join my ramblings.
My name is Tiffany Dawn, and I am a young woman who has fallen in love with traveling the world, savoring warm drinks in coffee shops, sharing life with my goofy & wonderful husband James (watch our story here), coloring my life in coral, and delving into anything spy-related.
I’m also a young woman who never felt “good enough” — not smart enough, or popular enough, or pretty enough. In college, I started dating Mr. Perfect (or so I thought), only to have him tell me I wasn’t as pretty as other girls, and encourage me to lose weight. That led to a 7-year struggle with disordered eating.
In my twenties, I slowly began to find healing and freedom, and I wanted other girls to know they could be free as well. So I started sharing my story through speeches, music, and two books: The Insatiable Quest for Beauty and Boycrazy. Over the past few years, God has blown me away with opportunities to speak at 250+ events across the US. Last year I started weekly “Tuesday Girl Talk” videos on my YouTube channel as well!
Girls, I want you to know that you are loved just as you are. I hope my story can encourage you, and I hope to hear your story someday as well — preferably via a coffee date. 🙂
That’s me in a nutshell. If you want to read more, just keep scrolling!!
I’m a 30-year-old dreamer and speaker from upstate New York. I have a love affair with putting words on a blank page … marrying lyrics with melody … and with spending time with the most wonderful husband I could have ever asked for. Oh yes, and I’m obsessed with the CIA.
Yup, seriously. I’ve fallen in love with everything spy-related. I’ve even tried visiting the International Spy Museum in the hopes that they would see how well I performed and recruit me. They — whoever “they” are — have not yet made contact. I am still waiting.
My favorite things include…
- coffee dates with my girlfriends,
- date nights with my hubby James,
- long walks,
- my YouTube girls (I seriously pray for you all almost every day!!),
- the color coral,
- shopping for new clothes,
- raspberry chai from Starry Nites Cafe,
- and experiencing different cultures and countries.
OH YES, I’m also IN LOVE with southern California. (And with everything spy-related. Did I already mention that?)
As a homeschool graduate, I have four amazing younger siblings. They’re each smart, fun, and talented in their own unique way. And I do mean unique. We’ve got a mechanical engineer turned Sommelier (aka, wine expert), a neurologist, a video game technician, a college student of medical missions, and then me: the writer-speaker-who-hates-science daughter. (Was I adopted? One has to wonder.)
After graduating from “Mom’s Academy,” I got my bachelor’s degree from Roberts Wesleyan College (who also sponsors my tours now, which is super cool), and a master’s degree in music therapy from Nazareth College. Someday I hope to use this education to open a free-of-charge residential facility for people with eating disorders.
You see, for years I was drowning in disordered eating; craving, longing, hoping for some word of freedom to pull me out. That’s why I write and speak now. I pray that my books and seminars can be a word of freedom for other young women.
I like to call it: being a “professional nomad” by trade. In other words, I traveled on full-time (and sometimes dangerous — at least in my mind) homemade tours across the country. (If I’m being honest, I planned the tours in order to avoid New York winters.)
Now, however, my life is changing. In August 2015, I married a man I’ve known my entire life — but I never saw this coming. He’s kind and generous and patient … and I’m just a little bit in love with him (or ridiculously, make-guests-super-uncomfortable in-love with him).
We toured together for a few months this Spring, which was a ton of fun! As challenging as it is to learn how to public speak with someone else, it’s also a dream come true.
Anyway. As much as I’ve loved touring, I’ve found myself exhausted by all the traveling. Plus, I absolutely adore our little apartment. (That my husband has so selflessly allowed me to color with shades of coral.)
So now I want to be more settled and focused on the writing, blogging, and YouTube-ing aspects of my business-ministry-endeavor … while still speaking once or twice a month, of course. (This girl can’t give up motivational speaking!)
What does that mean?
It means that, despite its nine-month snow season, Schenectady, NY has become my oasis, forever drawing me home to my adorable little apartment, friends, and the beautifully unique church I’ve grown to love here.
It means that I’m now focusing more on sharing my message via YouTube instead of on a stage. So last year I started weekly “Tuesday Girl Talk” videos on my YouTube channel as well! So if you’re a girl reading this … you should definitely check it out!!
So…that’s a little bit about me. What about you??
I would love to hear from you! You can reach me at:
