New Year, New Team!

by Tiffany Dawn

Hello, friends!

I have to admit, I’ve been a slacker at blogging these past few years. I always want to write, but find myself running out of time — and it’s not just blogging; it’s also my Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. That’s why I have a new team joining me this year.

The close of 2016 was the close of several chapters in my life. I finished my 4-year season of full-time touring. I finished my part-time, temp job from the fall. I started a YouTube channel with weekly Tuesday Girl Talk, which is where I’ve been spending most of my free time.

The beginning of 2017 has also brought some new beginnings!

The Unmasked Dance – Poem by Dorissa

The Unmasked Dance

This beautiful poem is written by a young woman I met this Spring named Dorissa. When she shared this with me, I thought it was so beautiful, and asked if I could share it with all of you. It offers hints of a fairytale coupled with learning to love the selves we’ve been given, and learning that we ourselves are lovable just as we are.

In my room ready to be revealed

I look at myself

In the mirror I do not see it

I do not feel pretty

I do not feel beautiful

I see scars in my heart

From past regrets and decisions

Remembering them brings my eyes to water

But I hear the voices

Calling me down to show them myself

I will wear my dress with pride, but with a mask

This is not a masquerade, but still I hide, smile, and put on a show    Continue reading

Valentine’s Weekend

This was our first married Valentine’s Day…and it ended up hilariously different than we expected!

First, I have to give some back story.

20150215_112059Last year was our first Valentine’s Day together. We stayed with my grandparents to celebrate in one of our favorite cities: Austin, TX. We frequented classy restaurants, explored the city in 70-degree weather, and filled our days with shooting lessons and tandem biking in adorable outfits.

It was the exact opposite of this year.

Actually, side note: Last year was the first Valentine’s Day James had ever spent with a girl, and one of the few I’d ever spent with a guy. Most of his Valentine’s Day were spent watching chick flicks with guy friends (for real), and mine were spent watching chick flicks with girl friends.

So of course, I was thinking: Our first married Valentine’s Day is going to be SO romantic.

The Time In-Between

As a totally single woman for most of my 20s, I spent years feeling frustrated and stuck in the “time in-between,” struggling at times to enjoy life while waiting for the dream of marriage. A dream that was God-given and God-breathed. But it seems the God-given dreams are he ones that take time to fulfill. Maybe that’s because He’s writing an epic story, and an epic story requires “time in-between.”

I Don’t Live By Feelings [Treasure in Darkness]

Last night I was feeling overwhelmed by loneliness, I had to remind myself: “I don’t have to live by my feelings.” This is just a feeling, and it too shall pass. I am not defined by this feeling. I do not have to make choices based on this feeling (aka, going crazy in my head). It is just a feeling, a natural part of life, and it will not last forever. And then I started asking: “What’s the treasure in this darkness?”

Beginnings and Endings: Tour 5

I feel like laughing and crying! 😂 Suitcase is packed and Tour #5 begins in just 2 hours! It’s so bittersweet… The sweetness of my last solo tour, just me and God in this Father-daughter adventure. The sadness is leaving my fiancé for 2 months, and awaiting the tours I will begin doing WITH him after we get married this summer!! So I’m both laughing and crying inside and sometimes outside. And I’m overwhelmed by the goodness of God that I’ve known so far along this journey, as well as His faithfulness that is waiting for me in my future.
