Resources on Poor Body Image & Eating Disorders

Dear Reader,

For many years I hated my body. The girl in the mirror was never pretty enough or thin enough — in my opinion, anyway. Cycles of disordered eating controlled my life, promising they would make me confident and happy, but they never did.

During that struggle, I was desperate to learn to like myself and appreciate the body God gave me. That’s why I’ve put together this blog post of resources for you. If you, like me, are searching for help to beat your eating disorder or struggle with body image, this is for you!

Below I’ve divided the resources into a few sections:

  1. Inspiration — Because in some moments, all you need is hope that change really is possible.
  2. Your Thought Life: Practical Stuff — Because learning to like yourself starts in your mind. These are practical things that have helped me along that journey.
  3. Identity — Because part of learning to like ourselves is learning who we are.
  4. How to Help a Friend — If you’re learning about body image and eating disorders for the sake of a friend, this section is for you!
  5. Change the World — The best part of starting to beat an eating disorder or poor body image, is using your story to start changing the world!
  6. Helpful Ministries — Other ministries and organizations where you can get more encouragement and help!

I hope these help you like they have me! And please feel free to comment below with any other resources you’ve found helpful too!

Love, Tiffany Dawn

PS – Check back regularly, cause I’ll keep updating this with more resources! 🙂 ❤

5: Change the World

Warning: This next video has some potentially “risqué” clips shown in it, but I absolutely love it, because Jean Kilbourne talks about how advertising affects us as women, and sells us an idea of beauty and normalcy that’s not realistic at all! I highly recommend her 30-minute videos on media education, especially to discuss with friends — it totally changes the way we look at the media!
