Once again, it’s the most wonderful time of the year!
Earth mirrors sky in brilliant white as the holidays fall upon us. Burning cold numbs your limbs outside, but inside the warmth has never felt so beautiful and joyous.
Thanksgiving. As usual, my family will celebrate with a Mexican feast, surrounded by all the traditional sides. Just, no turkey please. Gross.
Black Friday. Our favorite shopping day of the year! Energy levels soar and thermoses of hot chocolate are packed away for midnight ventures.
Christmas. As usual, we’ll celebrate with our traditional breakfast feast (made on Christmas Eve by the children while the parents head to bed early — our version of Santa Clause, I suppose) and a Christmas morning reenactment of the birth of Christ with manger scene figurines. (Typically one or more of the figurines lose their heads from vigorous storytelling.)
What are your holiday traditions?
I’m sitting here with Black Friday ads sprawled around me, and all I can think about is pie baking and Christmas shopping. The holiday season is upon us, and there’s no time or place I’d rather be.
